Shloka 18

स्कन्दोपाख्यानम् — उत्पातशान्तिः, स्वाहारूपविचारः, कौमारमङ्गलक्रियाः

व्याध उवाच पिता माता च भगवन्नेतौ मद्दैवतं परम्‌ । यद्‌ दैवतेभ्य: कर्तव्यं तदेताभ्यां करोम्पयहम्‌,धर्मव्याध बोला--भगवन्‌! ये माता-पिता ही मेरे प्रधान देवता हैं। जो कुछ देवताओंके लिये करना चाहिये, वह मैं इन्हीं दोनोंके लिये करता हूँ

vyādha uvāca | pitā mātā ca bhagavann etau mad-daivataṃ param | yad daivatebhyaḥ kartavyaṃ tad etābhyāṃ karomy aham ||

พรานกล่าวว่า “โอ้ท่านผู้ควรเคารพ บิดาและมารดาทั้งสองนี้แลคือเทวะสูงสุดของข้าพเจ้า กิจอันพึงกระทำถวายแด่เทพทั้งหลายประการใด ข้าพเจ้ากระทำกิจนั้นเองแด่ท่านทั้งสองนี้”
