The Origin of the Five-Colored Fiery Being and Ritual-Disruptor Lineages

yaḥ saṃskārasampannaḥ jitendriyaḥ śaucācāraparāyaṇaḥ manonigrahavān ca sa buddhimān puruṣa ihaloke paraloke ca sukham āpnoti. satāṃ dharmeṇa varteta kriyāṃ śiṣṭavad ācaret; asaṅkleśena lokasya vṛttiṃ lipsed vai dvija-brahma.

Educational Q&A

Cultivate refinement and discipline, restrain senses and mind, adhere to purity and good conduct, and pursue a livelihood that does not harm or distress others; such a life yields well-being in both this world and the next.

In the Vana Parva’s dialogue where a hunter instructs a brahmin, the hunter articulates practical dharma: emulate the conduct of the virtuous and earn one’s living without causing suffering to any creature.
