Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical ideal that intellectual victory should lead to rightful fulfillment of agreed terms: debate is treated as a disciplined pursuit of truth, and the king honors the outcome by granting what is due.

King Janaka addresses a divinely impressive speaker, acknowledges that Bandi has been defeated in a formal debate, and declares that the victor’s requested boon is now being carried out—presenting Bandi as the prize obtained through that victory.
