तस्य स्त्रीणां सहस््राणि चत्वार्यासन्‌ परिग्रहे । एकैव च सुता सुभ्रू: सुकन्या नाम भारत,युधिष्ठिर! उनके अन्तःपुरमें चार हजार स्त्रियाँ थीं, परंतु संतानके नामपर केवल एक ही सुन्दरी पुत्री थी, जिसका नाम सुकन्या था
