Reconciling Contingency and Human Effort
तस्मादिदं प्रवक्ष्यामि वचन वृष्णिनन्दन
tasmād idaṃ pravakṣyāmi vacana vṛṣṇinandana
ฉะนั้น โอ้ผู้เป็นความปีติแห่งวงศ์วฤษณิ บัดนี้ข้าจักกล่าวถ้อยคำนี้
भीमसेन उवाच
The verse models decisive, responsible speech: after reflection (“therefore”), one should state one’s counsel clearly to the appropriate authority (here, Kṛṣṇa), especially when dharma and impending conflict demand frank guidance.
Bhīma addresses Kṛṣṇa (called “Vṛṣṇinandana”) and signals that he is about to present his considered statement—introducing a forceful counsel within the Udyoga Parva’s negotiations and preparations leading toward war.
