Dvārakāyāṃ Sāhāyya-vibhāgaḥ (Alliance Allocation at Dvārakā) /

ekataḥ te durdharṣāḥ sainikāḥ yuddhāya udyatā bhaviṣyanti, anyataḥ ca aham ekaḥ eva sthāsyāmi; kintu aham na yotsye na ca kiñcid āyudham eva dhārayiṣyāmi. ubhayor anyataraṃ pārtha yat te hṛdyataraṃ matam, tat vṛṇītāṃ bhavān agre; prāvāryaḥ tvam hi dharmataḥ.

Educational Q&A

Kṛṣṇa frames a moral choice: power and numbers versus the guiding presence of Kṛṣṇa who refuses to fight. He also upholds dharma in procedure—granting Arjuna the first right to choose—showing that righteous conduct governs even strategic decisions.

During the alliance-seeking before the Kurukṣetra war, Kṛṣṇa offers two alternatives: his formidable army or Kṛṣṇa himself, unarmed and non-fighting. Arjuna, addressed as Pārtha, is invited to choose first according to dharma.
