मार्दवं सर्वभूतानामनसूया क्षमा धृति: । आयुष्याणि बुधा:ः प्राहुर्मित्राणां चाविमानना,सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंके प्रति कोमलताका भाव, गुणोंमें दोष न देखना, क्षमा, धैर्य और मित्रोंका अपमान न करना--ये सब गुण आयुको बढ़ानेवाले हैं--ऐसा विद्वानूुलोग कहते हैं

mārdavaṁ sarvabhūtānām anasūyā kṣamā dhṛtiḥ | āyuṣyāṇi budhāḥ prāhur mitrāṇāṁ cāvimānanā ||

ความอ่อนโยนต่อสรรพสัตว์ ไม่เพ่งโทษผู้อื่น ความให้อภัย ความอดทนมั่นคง และไม่ดูหมิ่นมิตร—บัณฑิตกล่าวว่านี่คือคุณธรรมที่เกื้อหนุนและยืดอายุ
