स्वर्गे दुर्योधनदर्शनम् | Duryodhana Seen in Heaven

स एष क्षत्रधर्मेण स्थानमेतदवाप्तवान्‌ | भये महति यो5भीतो बभूव पृथिवीपति:

sa eṣa kṣatradharmeṇa sthānam etad avāptavān | bhaye mahati yo 'bhīto babhūva pṛthivīpatiḥ ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า “กษัตริย์องค์นี้ได้บรรลุฐานะนี้ตามธรรมของกษัตริย์นักรบ ในท่ามกลางความหวาดกลัวอันใหญ่หลวง พระผู้ครองแผ่นดินมิได้หวั่นไหว; ทรงยืนหยัดอย่างไร้ความกลัว จึงได้ถึงตำแหน่งนี้”

Educational Q&A

The verse frames posthumous attainment as linked to svadharma: a kṣatriya who stands firm and fearless amid great danger, fulfilling the warrior’s duty, is said to gain an exalted ‘station’ (sthāna).

In Svargārohaṇa, Vaiśaṃpāyana explains why a particular king (understood in context as Duryodhana) has obtained a high realm/state: he faced tremendous peril without fear and thus, by kṣatriya-dharma, attained that destination.
