अध्याय २९७ — श्रेयः, धृति, दान-नियमाः

Welfare, Steadfastness, and Norms of Giving

आयुषि क्षयमापन्ने पठचत्वमुपगच्छति । तथा हाकारणाद्‌ भवति कारणैरुपपादितम्‌

āyuṣi kṣayam āpanne paṭhatvam upagacchati | tathā hākāraṇād bhavati kāraṇair upapāditam ||

ปราศรกล่าวว่า “เมื่ออายุขัยที่กำหนดไว้ร่อยหรอลง บุคคลย่อมตกสู่ความอ่อนแรงและความเสื่อมถอย ฉันใดก็ฉันนั้น ไม่มีสิ่งใดเกิดขึ้นได้โดยปราศจากเหตุ; สิ่งใดเกิดขึ้น สิ่งนั้นย่อมตั้งอยู่ได้ด้วยเหตุอันสมควรของตน”
