Indra and Namuci on grief, composure, and inevitability

वाक्‌ च शब्दविशेषार्थमिति पज्चान्वितं विदु: । एवमेकादशैतानि बुद्धया55शु विसृजेन्मन:,वाक्‌-इन्द्रिय शब्दविशेषका उच्चारण करनेके लिये है। इस प्रकार पाँच कर्मन्द्रियोंको पाँच विषयोंसे युक्त माना गया है। मनसहित एकादश इन्द्रियोंके विषयोंका बुद्धिके द्वारा शीघ्र त्याग कर देना चाहिये

vāk ca śabdaviśeṣārtham iti pañcānvitaṃ viduḥ | evam ekādaśaitāni buddhyāśu visṛjen manaḥ ||

วาจา (อินทรีย์แห่งถ้อยคำ) มีไว้เพื่อเปล่งเสียงและจำแนกความแตกต่างของเสียงโดยเฉพาะ—พึงรู้ดังนี้ ฉะนั้นอินทรีย์แห่งการกระทำทั้งห้าจึงเข้าใจว่าเกี่ยวเนื่องกับอารมณ์ของตนทั้งห้า ด้วยเหตุนี้ จิตพร้อมด้วยอินทรีย์ทั้งสิบเอ็ด พึงละอารมณ์ทั้งหลายเสียโดยเร็วด้วยปัญญา

That the faculties (including speech and the other senses) are oriented toward their objects, but one should, using buddhi (discriminative intellect), promptly abandon attachment to those objects—practicing indriya-nigraha (sense-restraint) and inner renunciation.
