Adhyāya 2: Nārada’s Disclosure—Karṇa’s Training and the Brahmin’s Curse (Śānti-parva)
गुहामेतत् तु देवानां कथयिष्यामि तेडनघ । तन्निबोध महाबाहो यथा वृत्तमिदं पुरा
guhāmetat tu devānāṁ kathayiṣyāmi te 'nagha | tan nibodha mahābāho yathā vṛttam idaṁ purā ||
นารทกล่าวว่า “โอ้ผู้ปราศจากมลทิน นี่เป็นเรื่องลับของเหล่าเทพ ข้าจักเล่าให้เจ้าฟัง จงตั้งใจฟังเถิด โอ้ผู้มีพาหาอันเกรียงไกร ว่าเรื่องนี้ในกาลก่อนเกิดขึ้นอย่างไร”
