Varṇa-lakṣaṇa and Ātma-saṃyama (Marks of Social Conduct and Self-Restraint) | वर्णलक्षणम् एवं आत्मसंयमः
स्वकर्मफलनिभक्षेपं विधानपरिरक्षितम् । भूतग्राममिमं काल: समनन््तात् परिकर्षति,अपने-अपने कर्मका फल एक धरोहरके समान है, जो कर्मजनित अदृष्टके द्वारा सुरक्षित रहता है। उपयुक्त अवसर आनेपर यह काल इस कर्मफलको प्राणिसमुदायके पास खींच लाता है
svakarmaphalanibhakṣepaṁ vidhānaparirakṣitam | bhūtagrāmam imaṁ kālaḥ samanantāt parikarṣati ||
ภีษมะกล่าวว่า “ผลแห่งกรรมของตนเปรียบดังทรัพย์ฝากที่เก็บไว้ เป็นสิ่งซึ่งระเบียบแห่งธรรมบัญญัติ (วิธิ) คุ้มครองรักษา ครั้นถึงกาลอันควร กาลเวลา (กาละ) ย่อมดึงผลที่สั่งสมไว้นั้นเข้าหาหมู่สัตว์ทั้งปวง ให้แต่ละชีวิตประจันหน้ากับสิ่งที่ตนได้กระทำไว้”
