विद्या तपो वा विपुलं धनं वा सर्व होतद्‌ व्यवसायेन शक्‍्यम्‌ | बुद्धयायत्तं तन्निवसेद्‌ देहवत्सु तस्माद्‌ विद्याद्‌ व्यवसायं प्रभूतम्‌

Transliteration

vidyā tapo vā vipulaṃ dhanaṃ vā sarvaṃ hy etad vyavasāyena śakyam | buddhyāyattaṃ tan nivased dehavatṣu tasmād vidyād vyavasāyaṃ prabhūtam ||

Translation

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า—ความรู้ ตบะ หรือทรัพย์อันไพบูลย์—ทั้งหมดนี้ล้วนบรรลุได้ด้วยความเพียรพยายามอันแน่วแน่ แท้จริงแล้วสิ่งทั้งปวงย่อมเป็นไปได้ด้วยความอุตสาหะ และความอุตสาหะนั้นดำรงอยู่ในผู้มีร่างกายโดยอยู่ใต้การกำกับของปัญญา เพราะฉะนั้น ผู้รู้พึงเข้าใจว่า “ความเพียรอันเด็ดเดี่ยว” เป็นเครื่องมืออันทรงพลังและเพียงพอสำหรับความสำเร็จแห่งกิจทั้งปวง
