शृणु राजन् स्थिरो भूत्वा संग्रामं शंसतो मम । संजयने कहा--राजन्! जहाँ हाथी, घोड़े और मनुष्योंके शरीरोंका महान् संहार हुआ था, उस संग्रामका मैं वर्णन करता हूँ; आप सुस्थिर होकर सुनिये

สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “ข้าแต่พระราชา ขอทรงตั้งพระทัยให้มั่นคงแล้วสดับเถิด ข้าพเจ้าจักพรรณนาศึกนั้น ซึ่งมีการสังหารใหญ่หลวงแห่งช้าง ม้า และมนุษย์—ขอทรงสดับด้วยพระทัยสงบ”
