Duryodhana-śibira-praveśaḥ — The Pāṇḍavas Enter the Kaurava Camp; The Burning of Arjuna’s Chariot

pāṇḍubhyaḥ prārthyamāno 'pi pitryam aṁśaṁ na dattavān |

Educational Q&A

Withholding a rightful ancestral share despite repeated, well-meant counsel is adharma: it violates justice, kinship duty, and responsible kingship, and it becomes a moral cause that escalates social conflict into war.

Sañjaya recalls the earlier injustice at the root of the Kurukṣetra war: the Pāṇḍavas were repeatedly pleaded for, yet their paternal inheritance was not granted, highlighting the stubborn refusal that hardened the dispute.
