वैशम्पायन उवाच
That a major ethical-spiritual shift—moving from household obligations (gārhasthya-dharma) to the pursuit of liberation (mokṣa-dharma)—should be grounded in thoughtful reflection (saṃcintya) and firm resolve (niścaya), not mere emotion or social pressure.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that Devala, after considering various reasons internally, makes a decisive choice: he gives up the householder mode of life and adopts the path oriented toward mokṣa, signaling a transition from worldly duties to renunciant spiritual aims.
