गदायुद्धप्रतिज्ञा — The Vow and Terms of the Mace Duel

वनमेव गमिष्यामि वसानो मृगचर्मणी । न हि मे निर्जनस्यास्ति जीवितेडद्य स्पृहा विभो,प्रभो! मैं तो दो मृगछाला धारण करके वनमें ही चला जाऊँगा, जब मेरे स्वजन ही नहीं रहे, तब मुझे भी इस जीवनको सुरक्षित रखनेकी इच्छा नहीं है

vanam eva gamiṣyāmi vasāno mṛgacarmaṇī | na hi me nirjanasya asti jīvite ’dya spṛhā vibho ||

ข้าแต่พระผู้เป็นใหญ่ เราจะไปสู่ป่าเพียงลำพัง นุ่งห่มหนังเนื้อ. เมื่อไร้ญาติพวกพ้องแล้ว เราไม่ปรารถนาจะยึดติดกับชีวิตนี้อีก.
