शल्यपर्वणि प्रथमाध्यायः — Karṇa-vadha-anantaraṃ Śalya-niyogaḥ, Saṃjayasya Dhṛtarāṣṭra-nivedanam

स समाथ्वास्यमानो5पि हेतुभि: शास्त्रनिश्चितै: । राजभिननलभरच्छर्म सूतपुत्रवर्धं स्‍्मरन्‌,राजाओंने शास्त्रनिश्चित युक्तियोंद्वारा उसे बहुत समझाया-बुझाया तो भी सूतपुत्रके वधका स्मरण करके उसे शान्ति नहीं मिली

sa samāśvāsyamāno 'pi hetubhiḥ śāstra-niścitaiḥ | rājabhir na labhec charma sūta-putra-vadhaṃ smaran ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—แม้เหล่ากษัตริย์จะปลอบประโลมเขาด้วยเหตุผลอันมั่นคงตามคำสอนแห่งศาสตรา เขาก็มิอาจพบความสงบได้; เพราะเมื่อใดระลึกถึงการสังหารบุตรของสารถี ใจของเขาก็ไม่อาจตั้งมั่น
