अश्वत्थाम-शापः, परिक्षिद्भविष्यत्, मणि-न्यासः

Aśvatthāman’s Curse, Parikṣit’s Future, and the Mani’s Restitution

हतो दुर्योधन: पापो राज्यस्य परिपन्थिक: । दुःशासनस्य रुधिरं पीत॑ विस्फुरतो मया

hato duryodhanaḥ pāpo rājyasya paripanthi-kaḥ | duḥśāsanasya rudhiraṃ pītaṃ visphurato mayā ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า: “ทุรโยธนะผู้บาป—ผู้เป็นศัตรูและผู้ขัดขวางราชอาณาจักรของเรา—ถูกสังหารแล้ว และเมื่อทุศศาสนะดิ้นรนทุรนทุราย เราได้ดื่มโลหิตของเขา ดังนี้การล้างแค้นได้ชำระสิ้นครบถ้วน บัดนี้ผู้ใดใคร่กล่าว ก็ไม่อาจติเตียนเราได้อีก ครั้นปราบอัศวัตถามา บุตรแห่งโทรณะแล้ว เราไว้ชีวิตเขาไว้เพียงเพราะเขาเป็นพราหมณ์ และเป็นบุตรของอาจารย์ของเรา”
