Vidura’s Report and Portents

ततो गान्धारी विदुरश्षापि विद्वां- स्तमुत्पातं घोरमालक्ष्य राजे । निवेदयामासतुरार्तवत्‌ तदा ततो राजा वाक्यमिदं बभाषे,तदनन्तर गान्धारी और दविद्वान्‌ विदुरने उस उत्पात-सूचक भयंकर शब्दको लक्ष्य करके अत्यन्त दुःखी हो राजा धुृतराष्ट्रसे उसके विषयमें निवेदन किया, तब राजाने इस प्रकार कहा

tato gāndhārī viduraś cāpi vidvāṁs tam utpātaṁ ghoram ālakṣya rāje | nivedayām āsatur ārtavat tadā tato rājā vākyam idaṁ babhāṣe ||

ต่อมา คานธารีและวิทุระผู้ปราชญ์เมื่อสังเกตเห็นลางร้ายอันน่าสะพรึงนั้น ก็รีบกราบทูลแด่พระเจ้าธฤตราษฏระด้วยความทุกข์ร้อนใจยิ่ง แล้วพระราชาจึงตรัสถ้อยคำดังนี้
