Dyūta-kathā-praśnaḥ — Inquiry into the Dice-Game Calamity

पितामह! देवर्षि भगवान्‌ नारदने स्वर्ग, अन्तरिक्ष और पृथ्वीविषयक तीन प्रकारके उत्पात बताये हैं। क्या शिशुपालके मारे जानेसे वे महान्‌ उत्पात शान्त हो गये? ।। वैशम्पायन उवाच राज्ञस्तु वचन श्रुत्वा पराशरसुत: प्रभु: । कृष्णद्वैपायनो व्यास इदं वचनमबत्रवीत्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! राजा युधिष्ठिरका यह प्रश्न सुनकर पराशरनन्दन कृष्णद्वैपायन भगवान्‌ व्यासने इस प्रकार कहा--

pitāmaha! devarṣi bhagavān nāradena svarga-antarikṣa-pṛthivī-viṣayakās trividha utpātāḥ kathitāḥ. kiṃ śiśupālasya māraṇena te mahānto 'tpātāḥ śāntā abhavan? || vaiśampāyana uvāca janamejaya! rājñas tu vacanaṃ śrutvā parāśara-sutaḥ prabhuḥ kṛṣṇa-dvaipāyano vyāsa idaṃ vacanam abravīt ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า “โอ้ชนเมชยะ! ยุธิษฐิระได้ทูลถามว่า ‘ปิตามหะ เทวฤๅษีนารทผู้เป็นภควานได้จำแนกลางอัปมงคลไว้สามประการ อันเกี่ยวกับสวรรค์ ห้วงอากาศ และแผ่นดิน ครั้นศิศุปาลถูกสังหารแล้ว ลางร้ายอันใหญ่หลวงเหล่านั้นได้สงบลงหรือไม่’ ครั้นได้ฟังถ้อยคำของพระราชาแล้ว พระกฤษณทไวปายนะวยาส ผู้เป็นโอรสแห่งปราศร จึงกล่าวตอบดังนี้”
