Bhīṣma–Śiśupāla-saṃvādaḥ

ते च तस्य समभ्याशे निक्षिप्याण्डानि सर्वश: । समुद्राम्भस्यमज्जन्त चरन्तो भीष्म पक्षिण: । तेषामण्डानि सर्वेषां भक्षयामास पापकृत्‌,भीष्म! हंसपर विश्वास हो जानेके कारण वे सभी पक्षी अपने अण्डे उसके पास ही रखकर समुद्रके जलमें गोते लगाते और विचरते थे; परंतु वह पापी हंस उन सबके अण्डे खा जाता था

te ca tasya samabhyāśe nikṣipyāṇḍāni sarvaśaḥ | samudrāmbhasy amajjanta caranto bhīṣma pakṣiṇaḥ | teṣām aṇḍāni sarveṣāṃ bhakṣayāmāsa pāpakṛt, bhīṣma! haṃsaḥ ||

และนกเหล่านั้น โอ้ภีษมะ ด้วยความไว้วางใจ จึงวางไข่ทั้งสิ้นไว้ใกล้ตัวมัน แล้วดำลงและเที่ยวไปในน้ำทะเล แต่หงส์ผู้ทำบาปนั้นกลับกินไข่ของพวกมันเสียทั้งหมด
