स पीडयित्वा पज्चालान् पाण्डवांश्व॒ तरस्विन: । हत्वा सहस्रशो योधानर्जुनेन निपातित:,वह पांचालों और वेगशाली पाण्डवोंको पीड़ित करके सहस्रों योद्धाओंको मारकर अन्तमें अर्जुनके हाथसे मारा गया
sa pīḍayitvā pāñcālān pāṇḍavāṃś ca tarasvinaḥ | hatvā sahasraśo yodhān arjunena nipātitaḥ ||
เขากดดันเหล่าปาญจาลและปาณฑพผู้ว่องไว ฆ่านักรบเป็นพัน ๆ แต่ท้ายที่สุดก็ถูกอรชุนสังหารล้มลง
संजय उवाच
Martial success and the slaughter of many do not guarantee lasting triumph; in the moral economy of the epic, violent deeds tend toward an answering fall—here, the warrior who torments and kills in great numbers is ultimately brought down by Arjuna.
Sañjaya reports that a particular fighter (referred to simply as 'he') inflicted heavy pressure on the Pāñcālas and the swift Pāṇḍavas, killed thousands of warriors, and was finally slain by Arjuna.
