उस भारी घमासान युद्धमें रथोंने रथोंको मथ डाला, मतवाले हाथियोंने मदमत्त गजराजोंको धराशायी कर दिया और घुड़सवारोंने घुड़सवारोंको कुचल डाला ।।
raथैḥ narā rathā nāgair aśvārōhāś ca pattibhiḥ | aśvārōhaiḥ padātāś ca nihatā yudhi śerate || śrutakīrtis tathā śalyaṁ mādrīputraḥ sutaṁ tava | duḥśāsanaṁ mahārāja sahadevaḥ pratāpavān ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า—ในความปะทะอันหนักหน่วงนั้น เหล่ารถศึกบดขยี้กันเอง ช้างคลุ้มคลั่งโค่นช้างใหญ่ลง และทหารม้าก็เหยียบย่ำทหารม้าด้วยกัน ในสมรภูมิมีผู้ตายเกลื่อนกลาด—ทหารราบถูกรถศึกสังหาร รถศึกและนักรบรถศึกถูกช้างเหยียบย่ำ ทหารม้าถูกทหารราบโค่น และทหารราบถูกทหารม้าส่งสู่ความตาย แล้วข้าแต่พระราชา ศรุตกีรติพุ่งเข้าหาศัลยะ และสหเทว โอรสแห่งมาทรีผู้ทรงเดช เข้าจู่โจมทุศาสนะ โอรสของพระองค์
