दुर्योधनमुखा राजन्‌ राजानो विजयैषिण: । जैसे देवताओंने स्कन्दको सेनापति बनाकर उनका सत्कार किया था

sañjaya uvāca |

duryodhana-mukhā rājan rājāno vijayaiṣiṇaḥ |

yathā devatābhiḥ skandaḥ senāpatiḥ kṛtvā satkṛtaḥ, tathā sarve kauravāḥ karṇaṃ senāpatiṃ kṛtvā tasya satkārāya udyatāḥ |

rājan vijayābhilāṣiṇo duryodhanādayo rājānaḥ śāstroktavidhinā karṇasyābhiṣekaṃ cakruḥ |

สัญชัยกล่าวว่า—ข้าแต่พระราชา บรรดากษัตริย์ที่มีทุรโยธน์เป็นผู้นำ ผู้ใฝ่หาชัยชนะ ต่างพร้อมใจกันยกกรรณะขึ้นเป็นแม่ทัพใหญ่เพื่อถวายเกียรติยศแก่เขา ดุจครั้งเหล่าเทพยกสกันทะเป็นแม่ทัพแล้วบูชาเชิดชูฉันนั้น ครั้นแล้วทุรโยธน์และกษัตริย์ทั้งหลายได้ประกอบพิธีอภิเษกกรรณะตามแบบแผนที่คัมภีร์บัญญัติไว้
