भूमावश्रूयत महांस्तदा55सीत् कृपणं महत् | पततां पात्यमानानां पत्त्यश्वरथदन्तिनाम्
sañjaya uvāca | bhūmāv aśrūyata mahāṁs tadā śabdaḥ kṛpaṇo mahān | patatāṁ pātyamānānāṁ patty-aśva-ratha-dantinām ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า—ครั้งนั้นบนพื้นพิภพได้ยินเสียงคำรามอันใหญ่หลวงและน่าเวทนา เหล่าทหารราบ ม้า รถศึก และช้าง บ้างล้มลง บ้างถูกฟันให้ล้ม ส่งเสียงคร่ำครวญอย่างสิ้นหนทางด้วยกายที่ถูกอาวุธฉีกขาด เสียงนั้นประหนึ่งลอยไปถึงสวรรค์ เผยทุกข์เข็ญอันดุร้ายที่สงครามก่อให้เกิด
