Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how collective morale and symbolic sounds (conches, lion-roars) function as public declarations of courage and resolve in war—an aspect of kṣatriya conduct where confidence and unity are displayed outwardly, even amid ethically weighty conflict.

Sañjaya reports that the Sṛñjayas, seeing Bhīṣma energized on the battlefield, respond with loud, varied battle-cries and conch-blasts, signaling heightened excitement and readiness as the fighting intensifies around Bhīṣma’s leadership.
