तौ वृषाविव नर्दन्तौ मत्ताविव महाद्विपौ
sañjaya uvāca | tau vṛṣāv iva nardantau mattāv iva mahādvipau, jighāṃsantaṃ yudhāṃ śreṣṭha tadā sīt tumulaṃ mahat |
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “วีรบุรุษทั้งสองคำรามดุจโคอุสุภคู่หนึ่ง และคลุ้มคลั่งดุจช้างมหึมาสองเชือกที่กำลังเมามัน แล้วพุ่งเข้าหาภีษมะ—ยอดนักรบ—ด้วยหมายจะสังหารเขา ครั้นแล้วศึกใหญ่ก็ปะทุขึ้นอย่างอึกทึกตุมุล ในการปะทะนั้นฝ่ายปาณฑพยกศิขัณฑีไว้แนวหน้าเผชิญภีษมะ พร้อมทั้งตั้งใจคุ้มครองวีรบุรุษศเวตะ ด้วยแรงแห่งปฏิญาณ ยุทธวิธี และธรรมของกษัตริย์ ศึกจึงยิ่งทวีความน่าสะพรึงกลัว”
