Bhīṣma-nipāta-saṃvāda — Sañjaya’s Report of Bhīṣma’s Fall (भीष्मनिपातसंवादः)
यत्र शान्तनवं भीष्म हतं शंससि संजय । संजय! निश्चय ही कालकी शक्ति बहुत बड़ी है, सम्पूर्ण जगत्के लिये वह दुर्लड्घय है, जिसके अधीन होनेके कारण तुम शान्तनुनन्दन भीष्मको मारा गया बता रहे हो ।।
yatra śāntanavaṁ bhīṣmaṁ hataṁ śaṁsasi sañjaya | putraśokābhisaṁtapto mahad duḥkham acintayam ||
ธฤตราษฏระตรัสว่า— “สัญชัย ณ ที่ใด และด้วยเหตุอันใดเจ้าจึงรายงานว่า ภีษมะ โอรสแห่งศานตนุ ถูกสังหารแล้ว? เราถูกเผาผลาญด้วยโศกเพราะบุตรทั้งหลาย ใจเราหวั่นไหว และจิตดำดิ่งสู่ความทุกข์อันใหญ่หลวง”
