The verse contributes to the Mahābhārata’s sacred geography: the world is presented as an ordered structure with named regions and measured expansions. This frames human society within a larger cosmic order, implying that dharma and governance operate within a divinely patterned universe.
Sañjaya continues describing the arrangement of dvīpas and their varṣas. Here he states that the intervening breadth between regions increases twofold and names the first two varṣas of Kuśadvīpa as Audida and Veṇumaṇḍala.
