Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharma in the form of royal and familial responsibility: participation in a righteous public rite (yajña) is not merely ceremonial but a reaffirmation of alliance, gratitude, and social order; it also models respectful communication—inviting even those recently in tension into a shared dharmic act.

Arjuna informs King Babhruvāhana that Yudhiṣṭhira’s sacrifice will commence on the upcoming Caitra full moon and instructs him to attend with his two mothers and ministers. After hearing this, Babhruvāhana—moved to tears—turns to speak to his father, Arjuna.
