अदन्नन्नान्यथो<विद्वान्‌ ममत्वेनोपपद्यते । आत्मार्थ पाचयन्नन्नं ममत्वेनोपहन्यते,अज्ञानी पुरुष अन्न भोजन करते समय उसके प्रति ममत्वसे युक्त हो जाता है। इसी प्रकार जो अपने लिये भोजन पकाता है, वह भी ममत्व दोषसे मारा जाता है

adann annam anyathā ’vidvān mamatvenopapadyate | ātmārthaṃ pācayann annaṃ mamatvenopahanyate ||

พราหมณ์กล่าวว่า “คนเขลาผู้กินอาหารที่มิได้ให้ (เป็นทานหรือบูชา) ย่อมเข้าไปติดพันในความเป็น ‘ของเรา’ อย่างวิปลาส. ฉันใด ผู้หุงหาอาหารเพื่อตนล้วน ๆ ก็ฉันนั้น ย่อมถูกโทษแห่งความเป็น ‘ของเรา’ นั้นกระทบทำร้าย”
