Educational Q&A

Bhishma teaches that regular dīpa-dāna (donating/lighting lamps) as an offering to the gods and ancestors is a meritorious practice, praised for bringing clarity and strengthening one’s vision and inner radiance.

In the Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma continues advising Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and gifts (dāna), here recommending continual lamp-offering for deities and Pitṛs and stating its beneficial result.
