Pānīya-dāna and Anna-dāna: The Primacy of Life-Sustaining Gifts (पानीयदान-प्रशंसा / अन्नदान-प्रशंसा)

प्रत्यक्ष प्रीतिजनन भोक्त्ुर्दातुर्भवत्युत । सर्वाण्यन्यानि दानानि परोक्षफलवन्त्युत

pratyakṣa-prīti-jananaṁ bhoktur dātur bhavaty uta | sarvāṇy anyāni dānāni parokṣa-phalavanty uta ||

นารทกล่าวว่า “ทานด้วยอาหารย่อมก่อให้เกิดความอิ่มเอมโดยตรงแก่ทั้งสองฝ่าย—ผู้ให้และผู้บริโภค ส่วนทานอย่างอื่นทั้งปวงนั้น ให้ผลโดยอ้อม”
