Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)

कुशिक उवाच भगवन्‌ सहधर्मो<5यं पण्डितैरिह धार्यते । प्रदानकाले कनन्‍्यानामुच्यते च सदा बुधैः,कुशिकने कहा--भगवन्‌! यह अतिथिसेवारूप सहवधर्म विद्वान्‌ पुरुष यहाँ सदा धारण करते हैं और कन्याओंके प्रदानकाल अर्थात्‌ कन्याके विवाहके समयमें सदा पण्डितजन इसका उपदेश देते हैं

Kuśika uvāca—bhagavan, sahadharmo ’yaṃ paṇḍitair iha dhāryate | pradāna-kāle kanyānām ucyate ca sadā budhaiḥ ||

กุศิกะทูลว่า—“ข้าแต่ภควาน หน้าที่ประกอบคือการปรนนิบัติแขกนั้น บัณฑิตในแว่นแคว้นนี้ยึดถือสืบมา และในกาลมอบธิดาให้สมรส บัณฑิตผู้รู้ก็พร่ำสอนสิ่งนี้อยู่เสมอ”
