Viśvāmitra-janma: Ṛcīka–Satyavatī–Gādhi and the Charu Exchange
tathaiva kṣatriyo rājan viśvāmitro mahātapāḥ
Spiritual excellence and dharmic stature are achievable through tapas and disciplined conduct, not limited by birth-status; Viśvāmitra is cited as a kṣatriya who attained great ascetic power.
Bhīṣma, instructing the king, continues a series of illustrative examples and points to Viśvāmitra as proof that a warrior-ruler can, through severe austerities, become a great sage.
