सर्वभूतेषु यः सम्यग् ददात्यभयदक्षिणाम् । हिंसादोषविमुक्तात्मा स वै धर्मेण युज्यते,जो हिंसादोषसे मुक्त होकर सम्पूर्ण प्राणियोंको अभयदान कर देता है, उसीको धर्मका फल प्राप्त होता है
sarvabhūteṣu yaḥ samyag dadāty abhayadakṣiṇām | hiṁsādoṣavimuktātmā sa vai dharmeṇa yujyate ||
มหेशวราตรัสว่า “ผู้ใดให้ ‘ทานแห่งความไร้ความกลัว’ (อภัยทาน) แก่สรรพสัตว์โดยชอบ ด้วยจิตที่พ้นจากโทษแห่งการเบียดเบียน ผู้นั้นแลย่อมประกอบพร้อมด้วยธรรม และบรรลุผลแห่งธรรม.”
