Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
The verse highlights discernment and honest self-expression: mere provision of food or comfort does not automatically yield inner satisfaction, and one should communicate needs and values respectfully within the family context.
Vāsudeva recalls an early-life moment: an insipid gruel did not please him, so he says that, from childhood, he spoke to his mother—setting up the next lines where he likely explains what he said and why.
