Viṣṇu-sahasranāma—Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry and Bhīṣma’s Recitation (विष्णोर्नामसहस्रम्)

अहन्यहनि यो दद्यात्‌ कपिलां द्वादशी: समा: । मासि मासि च सत्रेण यो यजेत सदा नर:

bhīṣma uvāca | ahany ahani yo dadyāt kapilāṁ dvādaśīḥ samāḥ | māsi māsi ca satreṇa yo yajeta sadā naraḥ |

ภีษมะกล่าวว่า แม้บุรุษผู้หนึ่งจะถวายทานโคกปิลา (โคสีแดงอ่อน) วันแล้ววันเล่าเป็นเวลาสิบสองปีเต็ม และเดือนแล้วเดือนเล่าจะประกอบสัตรยัญอย่างไม่ขาดสายก็ตาม บุญแห่งกรรมนั้นก็ยังไม่เสมอด้วยผลบุญของผู้ซึ่งด้วยการปรนนิบัติของตนทำให้แขกผู้มาเยือนพึงพออย่างแท้จริง
