Educational Q&A

Righteous conduct yields divine approval and inner purity, and its fruit is a luminous, honored state even after death—symbolized by shining like the sun in the realm of the departed.

Yama is describing the condition of a person who reaches the pretaloka with merit: the gods consent to his passage, the quarters become purified, and he appears radiant—an image of posthumous honor and spiritual clarity.
