ययाति–दौहित्रसंवादः

तस्मात्‌ सान्त्वं सदा वाच्यं न वाच्यं परुषं क्वचित्‌ | पूज्यान्‌ सम्पूजयेद्‌ दद्यान्न च याचेत्‌ कदाचन,इसलिये कभी कठोर वचन न बोले। सदा सान्त्वनापूर्ण मधुर वचन ही बोले। पूजनीय पुरुषोंका पूजन (आदर-सत्कार) करे। दूसरोंको दान दे और स्वयं कभी किसीसे कुछ न माँगे

tasmāt sāntvaṃ sadā vācyaṃ na vācyaṃ paruṣaṃ kvacit | pūjyān sampūjayed dadyān na ca yācet kadācana ||

เพราะฉะนั้น พึงกล่าววาจาอ่อนโยนปลอบประโลมอยู่เสมอ และอย่าเอ่ยวาจาหยาบกร้าวไม่ว่าเมื่อใด จงบูชาผู้ควรบูชาให้สมควร ให้ทานแก่ผู้อื่น และอย่าได้ขอหรือวิงวอนสิ่งใดเพื่อตนเองเลย
