शुक्र उवाच नन्वहं प्रत्यवेक्ष्यस्ते मदधीनो 5सि पार्थिव । मिथ्याचारस्य धर्मेषु चौर्य भवति नाहुष,शुक्राचार्यने कहा--राजन्‌! तुम्हें इस विषयमें मेरे आदेशकी भी प्रतीक्षा करनी चाहिये थी; क्‍योंकि तुम मेरे अधीन हो। नहुषनन्दन! धर्ममें मिथ्या आचरण करनेवाले पुरुषको चोरीका पाप लगता है

śukra uvāca | nanv ahaṃ pratyavekṣyas te mad-adhīno 'si pārthiva | mithyācārasya dharmeṣu cauryaṃ bhavati nāhuṣa-nandana ||

ศุกระกล่าวว่า “โอ้พระราชา ในเรื่องนี้เจ้าควรคอยคำสั่งของเรา เพราะเจ้าอยู่ใต้บังคับบัญชาของเรา. โอ้ผู้สืบสายจากนะหูษะ เมื่อบุรุษประพฤติลวงโดยอ้างธรรม การกระทำนั้นย่อมมีบาปดุจการลักขโมย”
