Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how anger manifests through speech—words become sharp and harsh when the mind is inflamed. Ethically, it points to the importance of self-restraint (especially in speech), since uncontrolled anger can damage relationships and lead to further wrongdoing.

Vaiśaṃpāyana reports that Śarmiṣṭhā, identified as the daughter of Vṛṣaparvan, is speaking to him in a highly angry state, with reddened eyes, and is addressing him with extremely cutting and harsh words—setting the tone for an escalating conflict.
