सदस्या ऊचु: बालो<पि विप्रो मान्य एवेह राज्ञां विद्वान्‌ यो वै स पुनर्वे यथावत्‌ । सर्वान्‌ कामांस्त्वत्त एवार्हतेडद्य यथा च नस्तक्षक एति शीघ्रम्‌,सदस्योंने कहा--ब्राह्मण यदि बालक हो तो भी यहाँ राजाओंके लिये सम्माननीय ही है। यदि वह विद्वान हो तब तो कहना ही क्‍या है? अतः यह ब्राह्मण बालक आज आपसे यथोचित रीतिसे अपनी सम्पूर्ण कामनाओंको पानेके योग्य है, किंतु वर देनेसे पहले तक्षक नाग चाहे जैसे भी शीघ्रतापूर्वक हमारे पास आ पहुँचे, वैसा उपाय करना चाहिये

sadasyā ūcuḥ—bālo 'pi vipro mānya eveha rājñāṃ vidvān yo vai sa punar veyathāvat | sarvān kāmāṃs tvatta evārhatedya yathā ca nas takṣaka eti śīghram |

เหล่าสมาชิกสภากล่าวว่า “ในที่นี้ สำหรับพระราชาทั้งหลาย พราหมณ์แม้เป็นเด็กก็ยังควรแก่การเคารพ; และหากเป็นผู้รู้แล้ว จะกล่าวสิ่งใดอีกเล่า? เพราะฉะนั้นพราหมณ์หนุ่มผู้นี้สมควรได้รับจากพระองค์ในวันนี้ซึ่งความปรารถนาทั้งปวงตามครรลองอันถูกต้อง. แต่ก่อนประทานพร ควรจัดการด้วย เพื่อมิให้ทักษกนาคราชโดยวิธีใด ๆ รีบมาถึงที่นี่ได้.”

Educational Q&A

The verse underscores a dharmic norm of kingship: brahmins are to be honored regardless of age, and learning increases that claim. At the same time, ethical action must be joined with prudence—granting boons should not ignore imminent danger (here, the threat of Takṣaka).

The court assembly advises the king that the young brahmin petitioner is fully entitled to receive his requested boon(s) properly. However, they urge the king to first arrange safeguards so that Takṣaka the Nāga cannot quickly reach and harm them.
