ततः पितामहः साक्षादभिगम्य महासुरौ । वरेणच्छन्दयामास सर्वलोकहित: प्रभु:,तब सम्पूर्ण लोकोंके हितैषी पितामह साक्षात्‌ भगवान्‌ ब्रह्माने उन दोनों महादैत्योंके निकट आकर उन्हें इच्छानुसार वर माँगनेको कहा

tataḥ pitāmahaḥ sākṣād abhigamya mahāsurau | vareṇecchandayāmāsa sarvalokahitaḥ prabhuḥ ||

ครั้งนั้น ปิตามหะ—พระพรหมผู้ทรงมุ่งประโยชน์แก่สรรพโลก—เสด็จไปยังอสูรผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ทั้งสองด้วยพระองค์เอง แล้วทรงเชื้อเชิญให้เลือกพรตามความปรารถนา
