Adhyāya 196: Droṇa’s Conciliatory Counsel and Karṇa’s Suspicion of Counsel (मन्त्र-नय-विवादः)

तत्‌ तथा भविता भद्रे वचस्तदू भद्रमस्तु ते । देहमन्यं गतायास्ते सर्वमेतद्‌ भविष्यति,तब देवाधिदेव महादेवजीने मन-ही-मन अत्यन्त संतुष्ट होकर उससे यह शुभ वचन कहा--'भद्रे! तुमने 'पति दीजिये” इस वाक्यको पाँच बार दुहराया है; इसलिये मैंने जो पहले कहा है, वैसा ही होगा, तुम्हारा कल्याण हो। किंतु तुम्हें दूसरे शरीरमें प्रवेश करनेपर यह सब होगा”

tat tathā bhavitā bhadre vacas tadū bhadram astu te | deham anyaṃ gatāyās te sarvam etad bhaviṣyati ||

“โอ้ภัทรา จักเป็นไปดังนั้น—ขอความเป็นสิริมงคลจงมีแก่เจ้า เพราะเจ้าได้ทูลขอว่า ‘ขอประทานสามี’ ถึงห้าครั้ง สิ่งที่เรากล่าวไว้ก่อนหน้านี้ย่อมเป็นจริงแน่นอน แต่ทั้งหมดนี้จะสำเร็จแก่เจ้าเมื่อเจ้าได้ไปสู่กายอื่นแล้ว”
