Aurva’s Containment of the Wrath-Fire

sa hi tāṁ tarkayāmāsa rūpato nṛpatiḥ śriyam | punaḥ saṁtarkayāmāsa raver bhraṣṭām iva prabhām ||

Educational Q&A

Extraordinary beauty can inspire a sense of the divine, but the verse also models thoughtful reconsideration—moving from a first impression to a more reflective inference—encouraging discernment rather than hasty certainty.

A Gandharva describes how the king, struck by a maiden’s appearance, first assumes she is Lakṣmī incarnate, then revises his thought to another possibility: that she is like the Sun’s radiance that has fallen from the solar sphere and taken human form.
