गन्धर्व उवाच संयोगो वै प्रीतिकरो महत्सु प्रतिदृश्यते । जीवितस्य प्रदानेन प्रीतो विद्यां ददामि ते,गन्धर्व बोला--महापुरुषोंके साथ जो समागम होता है, वह प्रीतिको बढ़ानेवाला होता है--ऐसा देखनेमें आता है। आपने मुझे जीवनदान दिया है, इससे प्रसन्न होकर मैं आपको चाक्षुषी विद्या भेंट करता हूँ

gandharva uvāca saṃyogo vai prītikaro mahatsu pratidṛśyate | jīvitasya pradānena prīto vidyāṃ dadāmi te ||

คันธรรพกล่าวว่า “การได้คบหากับมหาบุรุษย่อมทำให้ไมตรีจิตเพิ่มพูน ดังที่เห็นกันอยู่ ท่านได้ประทานชีวิตแก่เรา ด้วยความยินดีนั้นเราจึงมอบ ‘จักษุษีวิทยา’ แก่ท่าน”
