तं च पापं न जानीमो यदि दग्ध:ः पुरोचन: । कथं तु विप्रमुच्येम भयादस्मादलक्षिता:,“हमें यह भी पता नहीं है कि पापी पुरोचन जल गया या नहीं। हम दूसरोंसे छिपे रहकर किस प्रकार इस महान् कष्टसे छुटकारा पा सकेंगे?”
taṁ ca pāpaṁ na jānīmo yadi dagdhaḥ purocanaḥ | kathaṁ tu vipramucyema bhayād asmād alakṣitāḥ ||
“เรายังไม่รู้เลยว่าโปรจนะผู้บาปนั้นถูกไฟเผาตายหรือไม่ และหากเราต้องซ่อนตัวไม่ให้ผู้ใดล่วงรู้ เราจะหลุดพ้นจากความหวาดกลัวนี้ได้อย่างไร”
