वैशम्पायन उवाच पूर्वमेव तु सम्मन्त्रय पार्थो द्रोणमथाब्रवीत्‌ | दर्पोद्रेकात्‌ कुमाराणामाचार्य द्विजसत्तमम्‌,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! कौरवों तथा अन्य राजकुमारोंको अपने बल और पराक्रमका बड़ा घमंड था; इसलिये अर्जुनने पहले ही अच्छी तरह सलाह करके विप्रवर द्रोणाचार्यसे कहा--

Transliteration

vaiśampāyana uvāca pūrvam eva tu sammantrya pārtho droṇam athābravīt | darpodrekāt kumārāṇām ācārya dvijasattamam ||

Translation

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—โอ้พระเจ้าชนเมชยะ! เหล่าเจ้าชายทั้งหลายพองด้วยทิฐิจากกำลังและความกล้าหาญของตน; เพราะฉะนั้น ปารถะ (อรชุน) จึงได้ปรึกษาหารือล่วงหน้า แล้วจึงกราบทูลอาจารย์โทรณะ ผู้ประเสริฐในหมู่ทวิชะ
